My Story:

I qualified as a solicitor in 1998. I began my career in litigation before moving into corporate and commercial work, where I have spent the past 25 years advising businesses at every stage of their growth.

Before joining Mercurae, I worked across a wide range of environments — from small and large law firms to a multi-disciplinary practice of lawyers, accountants, and tax advisers, ultimately leading the corporate and commercial team. I also spent two years in industry as General Counsel for a retail and hospitality group, giving me first-hand experience of the pressures and priorities clients face day-to-day.

Over the years I have advised everyone from owner-managed businesses to multinational groups on mergers and acquisitions, shareholder and general corporate matters, and complex commercial transactions. Much of my work involves cross-border deals and supporting overseas businesses, high net-worth individuals, and family offices with their UK commercial interests.

Key Expertise:

I advise extensively on the following, often in international or cross-border matters:

  • Company and business sales and acquisitions

  • Corporate structuring and shareholder matters

  • Commercial contracts and strategic commercial arrangements

How I Help Clients:

Having worked both in private practice and in-house, I approach legal advice through a commercial lens. I focus on what is practical, manageable, and aligned with your wider business objectives — not on overly academic solutions.  My cross-border experience also means I’m comfortable navigating cultural expectations, legal differences, and the realities of working across jurisdictions, keeping transactions on track and outcomes clear.

Why Mercurae:

At Mercurae, we aim to operate as a genuine extension of your team. We work collaboratively, explain risk in plain English, and provide clarity around fees from the outset. That way, you can make informed commercial decisions quickly, confidently, and without surprises.

Outside Work:

I live in Berkshire with my family and an assortment of animals. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me out walking in the countryside or attempting to keep very old garden machinery running!
