My Story:
After completing my training at a medium sized commercial firm in Lincoln’s Inn, in 2004 I moved to a smaller commercial firm in Surrey. There I advised a variety of clients from newly incorporated UK subsidiaries of overseas parent companies to SMEs and large companies with hundreds of employees, as well as individual employees.
I joined Mercurae in 2025 having met Adam, Rebecca and Jess through the international network, Lawyers Cooperation. Mercurae is a dynamic modern firm embracing all that AI and tech has to offer the legal industry and its clients.
Key Expertise
Here at Mercurae I support clients through the full life cycle of employment from recruitment, contractual documentation, remuneration packages and benefits, promotion, disciplinary and grievances, restructures, as well as exits. I also work closely with the corporate commercial team dealing with the employment elements of mergers and acquisitions, undertaking employment due diligence and advising on TUPE transfers.
Whilst I am very much here to support and advise clients, I also enjoy teaching and so run seminars detailing updates in Employment law, which include handy tips and action points for employers.
How I Help Clients:
Employment law problems are human problems; they can be emotional because it’s personal. Sometimes speed is best and other times it pays to play the long game, supporting employees and/or employers to get them to where they need to be.
My aim is to become an extension of my client’s HR department or senior leadership team - someone who knows your business and is there to bounce ideas off; someone who can find neat solutions to human problems. UK Employment law is an ever-changing minefield that I endeavour to handhold my clients through.
Why Mercurae:
Having spent most of my career justifying my day in six-minute units I see the value of finding another way to provide legal advice. With the emergence of AI came the very real need for lawyers to change the way they work. Our value is in the depth and breadth of our experience not how long it takes us to draft a document. The Mercurae model allows me to work with clients to solve problems without having to clock watch.
Outside Work:
I am a busy mum of two sporty teenage girls. Someone asked me recently what my hobbies are; alas I’m not sure taxi driver counts. I suppose chief transport provider, kit co-ordinator, provider of snacks, mechanic and cheer squad are more accurate descriptions. A washer of, rather than wearer of, Lycra, some might say. A lover of para-sports, specifically athletics, and women’s football. Olympic and Paralympic years are my absolute favourite. For two months every four years I shall mostly be found whooping, hollering and overusing the word ‘awesome’.
